Faial da Terra to Salto do Prego

Hike from Faial da Terra to Salto do Prego, a picnic at the top of the waterfall and a very steep hike back through the abandoned village of Sanguinho.

Hike around the crater lake of Furnas

A stew, Cozida, is being prepared using volcanic heat in the ground, the whole island is dotted with Hydrangeas, the Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Vitórias and Terra Nostra Garden, a pool with mineral water from a hot spring.

Quinta das Acácias

Our cottage at Quinta das Acácias, Livramento. Enjoyed the tranquility with a cup of fresh lemongrass (from the garden) tea.

Ponta Delgada

Goncalo Velho Cabral discovered Sao Miguel in the 15th century. We enjoyed Queijadas da Vila, a typical pastry from the town of Vila Franca do Campo.

Whale watching

Unfortunately, we didn’t see any sperm whales up close, just some puffs in the distance.

Hotel Monte Palace and SETE CIDADES

Did a bit of Urban Exploration, quite exciting … The hotel closed in 1989, it was a five-star hotel for the rich and famous. Bathrooms with marble and gold taps in the shape of swans and fish (have not seen them, as we did not dare to venture any further).
