We stayed at Cerf Island in the Sainte Anne National Marine Park. Did a lot of kayaking, mainly to Round Island. Most of the time we had the island all to ourselves until the busload of the tourists in glass bottom boats arrived.
We walked around Vallée de Mai on Praslin Island, where the Coco de Mer still grows in the wild. On La Digue we visited L’Union Estate. Anse Source D’Argent, the most photographed beach in the world, truly is postcard perfect!
Brendon Grimshaw purchased the island in 1962. He created a botanical garden with a wide variety of plant and bird life. Around 120 giant tortoises roam free. We sat with Brendon on his porch for nearly an hour, telling us about his adventures. There are rumours that a pirate treasure is buried on the island, but no gold has been found as of yet.
